Mackroyce Corbitt, Jr. attended the First Annual Economic Summit in Dothan, Alabama at the Dothan Civic Center on September 1, 2010. The event was sponsored by Mayor Mike Schmitz and the Dothan City Manager Mike West among others. The event brought city leaders and politicians together to discuss various areas that affect our community including Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Quality of Life, Education, etc. The guest speakers included Mr. Hal Johnson, president and CEO of the Upstate South Carolina Alliance and Bill Taylor, President of the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama. The goal of the event was to come off with ideas to improve the economic outlook of the Wiregrass and to put people together that are willing to make those ideas a reality. The larger group was broken into smaller groups to discuss the issues at hand and focus on areas of interest. Afterwards they came back with not only a report, but an action plan. The event was the beginning and now it is time to see what fruits it will bear.
